Primary Communities of 3-6 year old children grow and learn in a three year cycle, culminating in the Kindergarten experience. A traditional Montessori approach is utilized, providing the child with a developmentally appropriate and rich sensory experience along with concrete exploration and manipulation of math, language and cultural materials. The Montessori approach allows for individualized social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. Half-day or full day options are available for the 3, 4 or 5 year olds. The Kindergarten experience is included in the multi aged program. Elementary A community of 6-12 year old students, the Montessori elementary program takes the child from the concrete operational into the world of the abstract fostering independence, self-reliance, nurturing and caring. The elementary student is exposed to the wider world through regular field trips. Each child visits the local library monthly, goes to a near-by gym during winter months, and receives weekly, specialized art instruction. Foreign Language Each Primary student (3-6 yr.) receives weekly, one half-hour instruction in German language. The children are introduced to vocabulary, music and dance. Elementary Students (6-12 yr.) continue German language instruction increasing the weekly lesson to one hour adding conversation to the curriculum. Music Each Primary student receives weekly one half-hour instruction in rhythm, movement, music appreciation, and composer recognition. Elementary Students additionally receive group instruction on the recorder. Extended Care Before school care is available to all full day students from 7:00 a.m. until class start time. After school care is available to all full day students from the end of class until 5:30 p.m. No child care is available during holidays Summer Session The summer program is an extension of the academic school year. Geared to provide a relaxed fun summer experience. Summer session begins the last week of June and runs eight weeks ending in mid-August.
